#Connected2020 - Exhibition Get Involved

Exhibition Dates: 28/3/2020 - 3/5/2020

Focus Weekend: Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd May 2020

Patchings Art Centre, Nottingham

Strumpshaw Fen RSPB, June 2018

Well the time is on us again for the new #Connected exhibition 'get involved' shout to go out, wow where does the time go eh? We decided the November #Connected:landscapeInspired exhibition would roll to 2020 as a bi-annual with all the work we've had on since Rob went full time professional back in April it's no surprise the time has come around before we knew it.

As always with #Connected the exhibition is open to everyone to take part, all work displayed on the wall will be hanged thematically by the gallery and not artist grouped to allow the images to be the focus. Everything will mounted & framed professionally identically to give a consistent and professional exhibition appearance but again, and importantly, allow the focus to be the individual images.

The ethos of #Connected has always been about inclusivity and opportunity therefor we never impose any 'themes' on the exhibition, we would rather each individual photographer who takes part enters the images they feel they are truly passionate about and best shows their creative expression. We do not believe in selection committees either as it is not for us to pass judgement on other peoples work so all work that is submitted by each artist / photographer will be printed on fine art paper, mounted and framed professionally to be presented as part of the #Connected2020 exhibition.

The exhibition will run from the 28th March until the 3rd May 2020 at Patchings Art Centre in Nottingham with the usual grand focus weekend and social events on Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd May. There will be 6 great guest speakers / performers over the two days to engage and inspire our guests. We are almost fully confirmed on our speakers and these will be announced in the coming weeks.

We decided to have the focus weekend as a celebration closing of the exhibition as it also allows photographers to take any unsold framed works with them when they attend the weekend which will hopefully be better in terms of people getting their frames back quicker and also ease our workload as the task of wrapping, boxing and arranging courier on frames is huge and takes weeks / months to get through fully.

Getting involved in #Connected could not be simpler, we take the hassle of all the printing / mounting / framing on to ensure everyone can enter even if you don't have access to printers or quality picture framers. Our close working relationship over the last 9 years with Fotospeed our paper partners and our framers means we are able to offer the full per picture package at the lowest cost price possible and certainly cheaper than individuals taking a one or two off for print / mount / frame to their local area. The cost per image to be printed / mounted / framed professionally will be the same as last year £45 given the increase in costs for our framers of all their materials over the second half of last year (museum grade mount board, moulding, glass and fixings).

To take part in #Connected2020 you will need to complete the below steps:

  • Complete the registration form (below)
  • Make your payment of £45 per image entered (max 3 per person) via PayPal (as friends and family payment to avoid fees) to: [email protected] no later than 3 weeks after registering for your space if not sooner.
  • Once your payment has been received we will setup a personal DropBox folder for you to upload your hi-res print ready images to, inside this folder will be all the information on paper options, soft proofing for paper types, the paper profiles and technical details on image size / resolution etc plus a naming convention for your images. Upload of your chosen images needs to be completed no later than February 5th 2020 to give our framers enough time to complete their mammoth task ahead of delivery to Patchings for the exhibition.
  • We will work with anyone who needs help and assistance in preparing their images for print to make the process as simple and easy as possible.

Complete the registration form below:

Once you have submitted your entry to take part in #Connected2020 we will e-mail you back in the coming weeks to confirm any more details we will require for the exhibition such as artist bios and bio images as well as any social / website details you would like included in the exhibition guide and web site.

Sales & Return of Unsold Works

During the exhibition all framed images will be for sale at the same price of £95 each, aside from the 25% Patchings Art Centre charge in sales commission, all monies will go directly back to the photographer once Patchings settle up for any sales made. #Connected takes nothing from any sales as again our ethos is to truly support each and every photographer involved.

Any unsold images at the close of the exhibition will also be returned to each photographer, they will need to be collected from the Arts centre on the closing celebration / focus weekend in May or we can arrange for courier and secure specialist frame packaging to return images this way. The cost for fully insured courier return including the specialist secure packaging to protect the framed art works and glass is transit is £45 for up to 3 frames (this is governed by size and weight and due to having to change courier for reliability and damage reasons).

The Exhibition Celebration Focus Weekend - 2nd & 3rd May 2020 - 10am - 5pm

Other than that all there is to do is to try and get along to the focus weekend at Patchings 2/3 May to enjoy the weekend of guest speakers and the fruits of your creative labour in the exhibition.

The two days of the opening weekend are FREE entry for all, we will be organising an evening meal and social event for all photographers, guest speakers and guests who'd like to attend at a nearby eatery on the Saturday evening, this event will be ticketed and charged for as we have to pay to the caterer for the meals.
