Each year for the last thirteen years Connected has been bringing together photographers of all ages, genres and status amateur and professional alike united across the realms of web and social media.

Connected brings together some of the most talented and passionate amateur and pro photographers across the UK. Connected unites the artists by their love of image making and being creative, its about vision and the creative spirit so disregards the formal pomp of status, stature, selection committees and competition. Connected aims to bring this love of and passion for image making to everyone through our exhibition which will feature photographs bought to life in their glorious printed form alongside a multimedia experience to encapsulate the viewer in the photographic Vision.

Each year Connected features guest speakers from the across world of photography bringing to the Midlands some of the most respected and talented photographers across the UK today.

Connected is open to everyone and getting involved couldn't be simpler each year as we Rob & Karen of RK Photographic work with all the photographers along the way to help bring the exhibition to fruition each year in April and May at the Patchings Art Centre in Nottingham.

Connected utilises strong partnerships with our official paper and print partner Fotospeed as well as our professional mounting and framing partners Picture Parade in Sheffield to remove as many barriers as possible and make it easier for everyone to exhibit their photography at a world renowned arts venue.

#Connected2020 - Re:Connected

2020 has been a tough year for us all, the Coronavirus pandemic has meant many of the things we know and love have changed beyond recognition. Indeed the artworld has been decimated with exhibitions cancelled and launch events postponed, photographers and artists have had challenging times work wise and getting out to make new work has been even more of a thing of solitude than ever before as our chances to meet and mix have been curtailed by the restrictions put in place to control this horrible virus.

We'd worked tirelessly with Patchings to look at the options for getting the physical exhibition on and the focus weekend a safe social event, sadly though as the covid landscape has worsened our plans have had to firmly change a focus to a virtual event that we can all attend safely from home.

As always with #Connected we wanted to make the virtual exhibition weekend something special and focus on the bringing of people together in a safe virtual environment. With that in mind we didn't want to just pop the images on the #Connected web site and let the celebration weekend slide so we have worked hard to design an immersive virtual event.

Guest Speakers - Live (7th & 8th) November

Over the course of the Saturday and Sunday all of the planned guest speakers will be presenting their planned visual talks via our dedicated live platform, it will be fully interactive in that we can take a full Q&A as we do normally live at Patchings and the sessions will all be recorded for anyone who cannot make each and every talk or wishes to watch back again on catch up after the event. The weekend will be a ticketed event, purely to cover the costs of the platforms for the scalable live event and the immersive AI driven virtual gallery walk through, including the not to inconsiderable time involved to setup all this tech and host the event online (we certainly appreciate how much Patchings do for us when we hold the physical event in Nottingham normally). We realise this is a change for the normal free events in Nottingham, but hope you all appreciate the cost and time to make a successful digital event happen is not easy. We also believe the saving on travel and accommodation everyone normally has to pay will make the £12 charge for the two days and lots of bonus content even better value....... not to mention we are all doing our bit for the environment too by not travelling (though we do love the physical exhibition and weekend events so will hopefully go back to it next year).

Guest Speakers:

Victoria Hillman

Jack Perks

Kate Bellis

Jim Mortram

Sarah Darke

John Illingworth

Virtual Exhibition Gallery Walk Through

As part of your weekend ticket you will also get exclusive access to a full AI driven virtual exhibition walk through created as an immersive environment that you can navigate your way around, see detailed information on individual works, buy works from the artists and take part in a guided exhibition tour. This feature will be much more akin to the real exhibition experience at Patchings and will be completely exclusive to those who have purchased the weekend tickets. Neither the virtual exhibition experience or the live weekend talks will be made available outside of those who have purchased weekend tickets, the works will all go on the Connected web site but not for a number of months to maintain this exclusivity and the talks will not be made available wider for at least 6 months.

The gallery walk through will look similar to the below

Join Us For The '#Connected2020 - Re:Connected' Event

Full weekend tickets are just £12 and include all of the above exclusive offerings along with extra content for those who join us for the week. You'll have full access to recordings on catch up and complete Q&A after each talk across the live weekend as well as access to a number of hosted social 'lounges' to chat with your #Connected pals you'd normally meet up at Patchings.

Any excess profit made from the ticket sales above covering the tech costs and time to bring this exciting digital event to you will be donated to either our chosen charity The British Heart Foundation (In memory of #Connected supporter, champion of all things photography and collaborator at various Patchings events, Steve Watkin the editor of Outdoor Photography Magazine who sadly left us all too soon) and / or a local foodbank at the request of some of our speakers.

As always we will be hosting an online fine art print auction in support of our chosen charities too of images / workshops / mentoring etc donated.

After the event we will e-mail you private links to the session recordings to catch up on any talks you missed or to watch again.
